Design Inspiration

All submitted designs should draw inspiration from Emirati handicrafts and cultural references.

Tents, falconry, pearl diving

Students should interpret and abstract the selected inspiration into a contemporary design solution. Direct copying or literal replication of traditional objects, patterns, symbols, or motifs should be avoided.

Required Outputs

• One (1) table design only
• Choose one table type: coffee table, side table, console table, accent table, or another functional table design

Students should not submit multiple table options within the same category.

Material Guidelines

Primary

Wood

Secondary

Textiles, natural fibers, glass, acrylic, rope or woven elements, lightweight board materials

Avoid

Heavy reliance on metal, overly complex mechanical systems, fragile materials unsuitable for prototyping

Submission Requirements

Per piece

• 3D digital model
• Drawings: top, front, and side views
• Full dimensions on all views
• Material mood board
• Full description of the design inspiration
• Clear indication of materials and finishes
• Explanation of how Emirati heritage was interpreted

Poster Submission

One (1) poster at 80 × 80 cm

• Per submitted design

• Top, front, and side views
• Full dimensions
• Clean, minimal layout
