Partitions
Design one foldable or movable partition inspired by Emirati heritage, crafts, and spatial traditions. The design should be functional, flexible, and suitable for interior spaces.
Design Inspiration
All submitted designs should draw inspiration from Emirati handicrafts and cultural references.

- Talli, Sadu, Khoos
- Cultural References
- Tents, falconry, pearl diving
Students should interpret and abstract the selected inspiration into a contemporary design solution. Direct copying or literal replication of traditional objects, patterns, symbols, or motifs should be avoided.
Required Outputs
- One (1) foldable partition design only
- May include: foldable partition, folding screen, privacy divider, or movable interior partition
Students should not submit multiple partition options within the same category.
Material Guidelines
- Primary
- Wood
- Secondary
- Textiles, natural fibers, glass, acrylic, rope or woven elements, lightweight board materials
- Avoid
- Heavy reliance on metal, overly complex mechanical systems, fragile materials unsuitable for prototyping
Submission Requirements
Per piece
- 3D digital model
- Drawings: top, front, and side views
- Full dimensions on all views
- Material mood board
- Full description of the design inspiration
- Clear indication of materials and finishes
- Explanation of how Emirati heritage was interpreted
Poster Submission
One (1) poster at 80 × 80 cm

Competition Notes
Includes: Foldable partitions, folding screens, privacy dividers, or one movable interior partition design.
Important Notes
- Original work is required
- Design must be foldable, movable, or flexible
- Design should be suitable for 1:20 or 1:10 scale models
- Selected designs may proceed to 1:1 prototypes and exhibition
- Poster must not include student name, ID, section, faculty, or university email
- Direct copying of traditional objects, symbols, patterns, or motifs is not accepted
